I have been an artist as long as I can remember. I have worked in oils and acrylics, and watercolor. My home base started out in Laguna Beach with a gallery showing my own art and curated works of other local artists. I served on the board of First Thursdays Art Walk for several years.
After years of working in the gallery, my grandson came to live with us I and needed to focus on his needs and be more flexible. As he grew, I taught him how to paint and do all kinds of art projects. I made gallery visits with children and taught them to appreciate and identify all kinds of art. When he started school, we moved to a house right across the street from an elementary school. I began teaching art to my grandson’s class and it evolved into teaching in all the classrooms.
I found myself always saying “Let me show you how” and my tagline was born. I love seeing people learn to do something new that they did not think possible. Artists young and old learn true artist concepts and techniques. I have a strong knowledge of art history and like to teach a project based on a particular artist. Most all the schools have all but done away with art. I believe that art is a critical part of a human’s development. We learn to solve problems, think outside the box as well as explore the world around us for inspiration.
I teach people through paint parties, corporate events and private instruction for both children and adults. I also offer one-on-one instruction in acrylics. I enjoy working with people that are new to painting and help them find their inner creative self.
What do we teach our children? . . . We should say to each of them: Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique . . . You may become a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything. – Pablo Casals
Words of wisdom! We have work hard as adults to look at the world like that. Let me show you how!
